Raptor therapy
The raptors used in animal assisted therapy are Harris`s hawks. Their scientific name is “Parabuteo unicinctus”. It has been claimed that Harris´s hawks are a rare bird among all birds of prey because they prefer to live in family groups, and not only does this make them so special but also the fact that they hunt in groups and all cooperate in such activity. Such sociability makes them exceptional for their participation in therapy.
