Next January 31, at 6:00 pm, the collective exhibition “Lions and Deer” will be inaugurated at the Gonzalo Casas Pessino Cultural Diffusion Center.
This exhibition is the result of the work carried out between the plastic artist Cristina Artés, and a group of people with intellectual disabilities during the «Convergent Space» artistic residence, carried out in the last quarter of 2019, thanks to the project “Mas Cultura, Más Inclusión” (More Culture, More Inclusion), by Plena Inclusion Madrid and Repsol Foundation and developed with Down Madrid in collaboration with the Canis Majoris Foundation.
The title of this project comes from the recurring imaginary of Iberian sculpture, primal art of our Peninsula. Lions and deer therefore refers to the themes or characters that the participants choose for their pieces. The amulets resulting from this experience show the icons, the “lions and deer” of each person’s personal culture.
Artists: Raquel Abellanas, José Martínez, Covadonga Giraldo, Sergio Centeno, Natalia Naglic, Karla Arteaga, Víctor Avilés, Eduardo Chacón, Víctor Sánchez, Rocío García, Azucena Lafuente, María Estrella Pérez.
The exhibition will be open from January 31 to February 21, 2020.
