June 4, International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression

On June 4, International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, is a day to vindicate the rights of all those children who are exploited for commercial or sexual purposes, those who endure violence and abuse at home, at school or in their immediate surroundings or those who are neglected in aspects such as their health, education, nutrition, emotional development or safe living conditions.

From here at the Canis Majoris Foundation we denounce all forms of child abuse, as we did in the seminar that were organized in 2017 where we discussed bullying and again in the conference held in 2018, in which a panel of experts explained the problem of cyberbullying and grooming, in the words of the coordinator, journalist Alicia Gómez Montano: “The 5th Conference of the Canis Majoris Foundation was necessary and useful. Necessary, because it allowed us to delve into an issue, – cyberbullying-, of which not much is known as yet and of which even the victims do not know the risks involved. Useful, because we are facing a new issue that, was not imaginable until the consolidation of the new phenomenon of social networks ”.

We work every day to improve the quality of life of those who need it most, addressing the most disadvantaged groups, in this case, children at risk of psychosocial exclusion who are supervised by the Community of Madrid, by developing activities such as the Siboney Narrative and Painting Award and the Majoris Camps, among other initiatives.

The first of these arose with the purpose of promoting interest in reading and painting among schoolchildren aged between 6 and 17 and this year we have celebrated our 7th Edition. The Majoris Camp, of a fun, recreational and therapeutic nature, aims to promote the socialization and integration of children. The activities and workshops that take place throughout the weekend are aimed at stimulating the feeling of belonging to a group and integration, learning to be more tolerant through play, teamwork and sports, which strengthens the acquisition of social skills that allow them to establish healthy links and relationships with their peers.

Children need protection and safety at all times, they should only have to “worry” about playing, learning and smiling. For this reason, we will continue working and directing our actions in order to improve the quality of life of those who need it most.
