The Canis Majoris Foundation presents our #MadrinaMajoris, Silvia Abascal, who on January 31st visited the Elena Pessino Gómez del Campo Neuroscience Laboratory and was able to see first-hand all the projects that are developed and the facilities where the work done at Foundation Laboratory team is carried out.
Silvia Abascal, is an actress from Madrid who has been working and developing her facet in both cinema, theater and television since she was 14 years old. In 2004 she received her first nominations for Best Actress for the Goya and the Union of Spanish Actors for ‘El lobo’. She has participated in films such as “ “El tiempo de la felicidad” (The time of happiness), “La dama boba” (The silly damsel), “Escuchando a Gabriel” (Listening to Gabriel) or “Los comensales” (The dinner guests) although these are just a few examples of Silvia’s work on the big screen.On television, Silvia starred in the series “Pepa and Pepe”, “Don Juan Tenorio” and “Catedral del mar” (Cathedral of the sea), among others. In 2011, at just 32 years of age, she suffered a stroke , the rehabilitation of which, separated her from her professional activity. However, during that period of retirement, she wrote her first literary work titled “Todo un viaje”,( Quite a Journey) where she narrates in first person her experiences as a result of the stroke and the plights of her recovery.
For the Canis Majoris Foundation, it is an honor that public figures so committed and involved with society are interested in the work we do and dedicate part of their time to participate and make visible all the work and effort we put into improving the quality of life of those who need it most. Our objective is none other than to continue making our small contribution and continue working for the no difference of the difference.
